It was a privilege to be on a jury panel for young Tamil filmmakers in July of 2016 in Toronto. Ten teams of kids 10-14 years of age competed in various categories with their films shot on cell phones. The range of topics and approaches was stunning. The end result was incredibly inspirational. Also on a panel were filmmaker Senthil Vinu and CBC radio producer and host Manjula Selvarajan. Besides watching and judging films we had an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback for each competing team. In return they stunned us with their professionalism and dedication to the craft.
