Today marks 13 years of my life in Canada. Never intending to stay in the first place, my life turned around when my documents got stolen a week before I was to head back to Russia. The next few months were full of struggle with uncertainty and bureaucratic hassle of restoring my identity. When suddenly I found myself in the world of film. It was like a wildest dream coming true, despite the circumstances. For one, I couldn't attend my granny's funeral in Moscow and got suspended from the PhD studies due to absence. And now, a devil's dozen years later, I'm a citizen of 2 biggest countries in the world, a film technician, an art-phototgrapher, a filmmaker and a feminist. And for all of this I have to thank a nameless thief. Because I doubt I would've accomplished what I did back home.

It's been a privilege to shadow director/producer Romeo Tirone on a TV-series "Taken". Created by one of the "Homeland's" writers Alex Cary and Luc Besson, it is based on the kidnapping action film "Taken". I learned so much by following the process from prep and re-writes to the actual filming with all the various obstacles on the way! R. Tirone shard with me in details his approach to the whole process from both directing and producing perspectives. It opened a new perception on things for me and proved to be very helpful. I can't wait to put new knowledge into practice!

P.S. Photographs depict the film and the series heroes - Liam Neeson (R) and Clive Standen (L)
